I Am Back! Big Updates, Ms. Wheelchair NY 2024 and More!

The years of my past I can admit were interesting enough on their own. The highs and lows in life were the usual cycle of pain and laughter, and I went along for the ride no matter what the task. I’m happy to report that as the world turns, I’ve learned to accept that which is impossible to change, and appreciate all the good in life. Life is never truly either “good” or “bad” but a cycle of the two. And in this cycle, it’s important to remember life is how we respond to it.

That being said, in the current season of my life, I am proud to announce all the good that has piled up onto my plate, and some VERY exciting announcements to come!

Firstly, I’m happy to announce that I’m officially engaged, and the future with the love of my life is now being carved out! As time goes forward, my views on love and what true happiness is have always stayed realistic. Seeing my future play out in front of me has been nothing shy of a true inspiration, and my excitement really knows no ends.

I’ve begun working as a full-time social worker (in case anyone was wondering where I’d been the past few months <3) and spend my days working with wonderful people. I’m happy to report my coworkers are a pleasure to come in and see on a daily basis, and the clients that are part of the program are just as much a treat. Sexydisabledfolks will continue on, with help from my fiancé and many others, and I hope to continue to create wonderful stories and aid people in sexual education inbetween my work. There is no shortage of passion for everything I am doing!

Finally, but certainly not least, I was given the honor of being able to compete for Ms Wheelchair New York 2024. Through practices in my speech and determination to be able to advocate for continued disability awareness and rights, I am proud to say that I WON!

I had competed against extremely lovely and driven competitors who are advocates themselves, and want to give a massive shout-out to them. After careful deliberation, the judges awarded me the honor of being Ms Wheelchair New York for this year! The opportunities and responsibilities ahead of me are absolutely exhilarating, and I just can’t wait to see what is in store! As of now, I want to take the time out to thank everyone, every SINGLE PERSON who had ever taken the time out to like a picture on my page, to read an article on this site (of which there are more to come) and generally support everything I attempt to do.

I can only hope that people see that I am willing to work hard and do what it takes to strive for education and rights within the disability community, and worldwide!

Here’s to a wonderful new year,

Amar Sharif
